Those extra minutes can really add up
Fitting in matched betting between my other life commitments has proved an invaluable source of income for me but I’m always interested in finding other ways of generating an income from home.
There are 100’s of ways to make money online however little or much time you have but here are some of the best that most importantly don’t require any outlay or start up costs.
A simple way to make money is to fill out online surveys in your spare time.
Research companies are always recruiting new members to answer surveys and even to test new products. I have been a fan of Toluna for quite some time now, earning points by answering online surveys which can be converted into high street shopping vouchers.
The survey payment is dependent on the length of time taken to complete it but they usually vary from 5 to 30 minutes. Sometimes they will send you a product to test/ review. I’ve had products varying from coffee flavouring to baby wipes sent to me for testing. If you get sent products, you get to keep them as well as getting paid to review them.
Earn while you play
Sign up for Swagbucks which rewards you for completing surveys as well as watching videos and playing online games.
Review music for money
If you love music, make money from it by reviewing unsigned bands online with slicethepie.
Users can earn around £40 per month, which may not sound much but is another item to add to your working at home portfolio and of course, you enjoy it too. It’s a US company so you will earn in US$ and then convert to £’s.
Get cashback every time you shop (and bet!)
Whether it’s the weekly grocery shop, clothing or gadgets, pretty much everything you want to purchase online can earn you cashback. A favourite of mine is Quidco, free to join with hundreds of retailers, travel companies, products and events to earn money on. You simply find the retailer and click through to their site – any purchases will be registered by Quidco as cashback to you which you can withdraw into your bank account.
I’ve banked £280 so far (see image above) on things that I would have bought anyway: grocery shopping, gifts, flights and hotels and there are a number of Bookmakers on there – I have just this week earned £10 cashback on my first registration with 188Bet. I will be working on the others soon.
De-clutter and cash in before Christmas
Ebay are currently offering to “only pay when you sell” during the month of November. Perhaps like me you are drowning in toys and would like to have a clear out before Christmas.
We all know ebay of course but did you know that big brands such as Lego, Fisher Price, Tomy etc sell at their second hand highest from November through to the second week of December. If they are complete and boxed you will get a great price and of course make room for more!
I have found that larger items can sometimes not be cost effective to post with Royal Mail – with these larger items, try Hermes who offer very competitively priced shipping.
Have a rummage through those cupboards – there’s a buyer out there for everything!
Can you sell your hobby?
A friend of mine has a part time income selling his photographs. He‘s got a keen eye and concentrates on images which he feels are more unique and therefore more in demand. Having said that, a photo of anything could earn you money. Take a look at two of the top photo sites: Shutterstock, Dreamstime
Etsy is a great place to set up an online shop if you make crafts or have a product that you think people will want. It is purely for homemade items but brings together buyers and sellers from around the globe.
Do some freelance work
If you have skills in a particular area you may be able to freelance in your spare time.
Peopleperhour allows companies to list projects that they need completed. You as a freelancer will bid on the project and state your price and they will let you know if you have the job.
It is a free to join and bid site but they take a percentage out of your payment.
Although matched betting is my most lucrative earner, all these other ideas are great sources of extra income and I’m always on the look out for more......
